KAREN A. MCCALL

M.Photog, M. Artist, Cr, CPP World Photographic Cup Team USA

A bit about me.
Passionate about animals, gardening, and traveling, I consider myself a romantic at heart. Creativity, humor, and a touch of quirkiness define my personality, evident in all aspects of my life. My home is in Massachusetts, where I reside with my supportive husband and two wonderful sons who bring me pride every day. With a successful career spanning over 30 years as a professional photographer, I am now venturing into the realm of teaching.

I am privileged to be a member of the Professional Photographers of America (PPA) and the American Society of Photography (ASP). Holding esteemed titles including Master Artist Degree, Master Photography Degree, and Photographic Craftsman Degree, I have been honored with numerous awards and recognized globally, including representing Team USA in the World Photographic Cup and earning double diamond status with PPA.
Despite my accolades, my true passion lies in continuous learning, personal growth, and sharing my knowledge with others.

The trophy that I cherish most is the small 1" pewter cup from my initial teaching experience in Vermont which I proudly display.
I look forward to sharing and celebrating with my artistic fellow enthusiasts. Here's to new beginnings and exciting collaborations!  Cheers!

"I’m loving them!  I bought the first one and have bought two more since!  I think I mentioned I was starting on my artist.  Your image of the golden crane gave me an idea as I have one from the zoo last year where he looks like he’s a king fu fighter.

Sandra from Nashville,

Dear Karen,
I just wanted to say thank you so much for the brilliant class!  I am so excited and inspired to learn from you! You are an amazing instructor and I feel so blessed to have met you and the opportunity to do a one on one with you.

Tim from Arkansas,

I've attended many classes from other artist. The presentation and explanation you do is definitely the easiest to follow and understand.  I highly recommend!

If you can do and in person class with Karen, I highly recommend it. She really presented in such a way I was able to absorb a lot of information.  She even made layers less intimidating.  Elegant, warm personable, patient, engaging, fun, and I dare to say grandiose.
I love the how Karen does her hair and feathers extra fluffy and with such personality and whimsical fun.

Embarking on the journey of learning digital painting for my client images was daunting. With numerous methods available, I was uncertain where to begin, until fate intervened one evening. A captivating image of Karen McCall's exquisite Peacock, painted in Photoshop, halted my scroll through my newsfeed. Intrigued, I delved into her program, finding it tailored perfectly for someone like me—a beginner with a modicum of knowledge. Enrolling in Karen's Zoom class was a decision I'll never regret. The depth of learning packed into those sessions was astonishing. I diligently took notes, which continue to serve as my guide even now. Since then, I've eagerly participated in several of her classes, each time acquiring fresh insights and techniques. Starting on the path towards achieving our goals requires a leap of faith. For me, that leap was into Karen McCall's class. Looking back, I'm immensely grateful for taking that leap, as are my clients. Thanks to Karen's guidance, my digital painting skills have flourished, enhancing the quality of my work and leaving a lasting impression on those I serve.

Thank you Mike for your kind words!

I have been working on my digital paintings for the better part of two years now and Karen has been there every step of the way cheering you on. I have purchased every tutorial that she offers and each and every single time I watch them to get a refresher, I happen to learn something new as well. I have had a few one-on-one zoom meetings and she helps break down where areas need to be adjusted and then gives you pointers on how to shoot for the future and edit so you can set yourself up for painting some of your best stuff! Karen wants you to learn and have fun while doing this style of artwork! With her laugh and her comments, she makes you feel like a person, not just a number and I love it with a passion! Thanks Karen for all you do! I enclosed a photo that she has helped me (though it isn't done yet) but she has given me such an amazing path to go down to make it better but also ways to create a style that I like and would be suitable to my needs here in Washington State.
